Garden Books – Shanghai Western Bookshop
I finally found a decent Western Bookshop in Shanghai, after scouring the internet, and visited it on Saturday afternoon. The Bookshop is in the heart of French Concession. The weather was lovely and it really is one of the better parts of Shanghai to visit. It seems a popular choice of residence for many western families, though, for me, if i had a young family i doubt i would be in Shanghai at all.
Garden Books was large enough to stock some good art books and also plenty of stuff about western architecture and cookery. There were also plenty of other topics that were not of interest to me such as Spanish, French & Italian language books, a Cafe, Children’s books and plenty of travel guides and Shanghai-related items.
The staff were friendly and offered to have me find a book on Gustav Klimt which they did not have in stock, but could order from their warehouse. The only thing they lacked that i wanted to find was perhaps a copy of a British newspaper, be it even a few days out of date, which i would have loved. I miss being able to read the paper on saturday morning in front of the telly, but thats no big loss for now.

Any luck with the Klimt book? I have purchased many books from AMazon online, they deliver to China now!
Good luck with your The Kiss Klimt blog! I checked it out, looks really good. I love Gustav Klimt too, and many of his paintings are amongst the best in the world. The Kiss, Beethoven, Judith, Water Serpents and others truly are worldclass paintings, and makes him such a popuar artist!! Check my blog if you like, for all the most famous Gustav Klimt paintings.
